Ingredients required to prepare Sambar power


Sambar masal power can also be purchased but if you want to prepare you own healthy and hygienic Sambar masala powder then follow these steps
1/2 tsp Fenugreek
1 tbsp coriander seeds
1 tbsp cumin seeds
1 tbsp urad dal / black gram whole
1 tbsp chana dal / Bengal gram
15 dried red chilli
1/4 tsp hing / asafoetida
Curry leaves

Saute all the ingredients for 2 minutes and let it cool
After that grind all the ingredients
Your powder masala is ready

Ingredients required for preparing sambar


1 tbsp cooking oil
1 tsp mustard seeds
1/3 Fenugreek
1/4 tsp hing / asafoetida
Curry leaves
2-3 medium Chilli
2 tomatoes chopped
1 potato big chopped
7-8 beans chopped
1 small brinjal chopped
2 carrots chopped
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 cup tamarind extract water
Coriander chopped for garnishing
Salt as per your taste

Steps to prepare Sambar


1- take a pan and put oil add mustard and wait for it to splutter then add asafoetida and chilli
2- add tomatoes along with 1/4 tsp salt and let it cook
3- add all the vegetables and mix it well
4- put turmeric and water mix it well and let it boil for 10 minutes
5- put tamarind extract water according to your taste and again boil it for next 15-20minutes till the vegetables are cooked properly
6- now add 1 cup over night soaked and moong dal and let it cook
7- put the Sambar masala and salt as per your taste. The prepared samabar masala and also be stored in an air tight container in a cool dried place
8- mix well for a minute and garnish with coriander

Ingredients required for preparing idli


1/2 cup urad dal soaked overnight or atleast 8 hours
1/2 cup idli rice soak it along with dal
Salt as per taste
1 tsp Fenugreek seeds

How to prepare


1- Grind the soaked ingredients until smooth paste. Use cold water to blend
2- mix salt as per your taste
3- prepare idli stand or a steemer
4- put 2 cups water in the idli stand
5- greese your idli plates and pour your prepared batter
6- let your idli steam for 15 min on medium high flame and 5 -7 minutes on low flame

Your idli and sambar are both ready to serve
You can also served it along with coconut chutney which tastes best with idli Sambar
